How much does a website cost in Barcelona? Actual prices for 2026
Real web design prices in Barcelona by project type, what variables drive the budget, and what a serious proposal should always include.
A professional website in Barcelona costs between €1,200 and €15,000. Most projects for SMEs and small brands cost between 2,500 and 6,000 euros. The range is broad because «website» describes very different things, ranging from a single-section landing page to an e-commerce site with a catalogue, payment gateway and stock synchronisation.
In this article we break down real prices by project type, what variables drive the budget, and what a serious proposal should always include. No vague ranges and no «contact us».
Prices by project type
| Project type | Usual range | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Single-section landing page | £680 to £1,280 | 1 to 2 weeks |
| Corporate website (5 to 8 pages) | £2,500 to £5,000 | 3 to 5 weeks |
| Multilingual corporate website | €3,500 to €7,000 | 4 to 7 weeks |
| Basic e-commerce (up to 50 products) | £4,000 to £8,000 | 5 to 8 weeks |
| E-commerce with an extensive catalogue | €8,000 to €15,000 | 8 to 14 weeks |
| Bespoke website developed in-house | from €12,000 | from 10 weeks |
These are studio rates, not those of a junior freelancer or a large agency. A large agency in Barcelona could double or triple these figures, particularly if the project goes through several layers of account management.
What actually determines the price?
1. The number of templates, not the number of pages
A 40-page website using 5 templates costs less than a 10-page website with 10 different designs. When you request a quote, ask how many unique templates are included. It’s the most significant factor, yet hardly anyone mentions it.
2. If there is a pre-existing brand identity
If you already have a logo, palette, typography and brand guidelines, web design starts from a fixed foundation. If not, the visual system has to be defined before designing anything, and that is a project for strategic branding with its own budget. Launching a website without a clear identity is the number one reason why projects drag on.
3. Who writes the texts?
Content is the usual bottleneck. If the client provides the text, the project moves forward. If the agency writes it, add between 400 and 1,200 euros, depending on the length. And if nobody writes it, the project gets stuck at the layout stage for weeks.
4. Multilingual
Translating a website isn’t just a matter of duplicating pages. You need to manage URLs by language, hreflang tags, translated metadata and the language selector. This adds between 30 and 40 per cent to the base project cost.
5. Integrations
Bookings, CRM, invoicing, stock synchronisation with an ERP system, specific payment gateways. Each integration involves development, testing and subsequent maintenance.
What a proper quote should always include
- Responsive design verified on mobile devices – not just adapted
- Speed optimisation and Core Web Vitals
- Basic technical SEO: URL structure, title tags and meta descriptions, XML sitemap, structured data
- Forms that are working and have been checked
- Analytics installed and configured – not just the code pasted in
- Training so that you can edit the content yourself
- A warranty period and rectification following delivery
If a quote doesn’t mention technical SEO or analytics, it isn’t incomplete by oversight. It’s incomplete because it isn’t going to be done.
Why to be suspicious of a 500-euro website
They exist and they work, in the sense that they load in a browser. The problem is what they do not include: speed, semantic structure, technical SEO, accessibility and scalability. They are usually bought templates with the content changed.
The real cost appears at twelve months, when the website doesn't rank, doesn't convert and has to be completely redone. You end up paying twice.
How long does a web project take
A well-made corporate website takes between 3 and 6 weeks of actual work. Projects almost always drag on for the same reason: content. If you have texts and images ready before starting, the deadline is met.
Frequently asked questions
Is it cheaper to hire a freelancer than an agency?
In hourly rate, yes. In total cost, it depends. A freelance covers one discipline. A web project needs strategy, design, development, copywriting and SEO. If you hire five freelancers, you play project manager.
How much does it cost to maintain a website per year?
Between 300 and 900 euros a year for a corporate website: hosting, domain, plugin licences, updates and backups. An e-commerce goes up from there.
Is everything paid for in advance?
The standard practice is 50 per cent upfront and 50 per cent upon delivery. On long projects, it is split into three payments by milestone.
Does it include Google ranking?
Technical SEO should indeed be included. Ongoing optimisation, with content and links, is a separate, monthly service. You can see it on our page at SEO optimisation.
